In the UAE, vehicles are driven on the right hand side of the road.

• It is mandatory to carry a valid driver’s licence when driving
• The maximum speed limit on freeways is 100 or 120 km/h and on residential roads depending on the area, 40, 60 or 80 km/h
• It is illegal to use a mobile phone while driving
• It is illegal to drink and drive or have any alcohol in your bloodstream
• Seatbelts are mandatory and should be worn at all times
• Drivers must use indicators when changing lanes or overtaking another vehicle.
• Pedestrians have right of way on crossings
